Transcript of Test Program.mov Welcome to your continuity connection. How many of you have heard this while listening to the radio or TV? (Emergency Broadcast sounds) It's usually just a test of the emergency alert system. Does this look familiar? Have you ever participated in a practice emergency drill or exercise? Your department or agencies continuity staff conduct tests, training, and exercises. They have to make sure the plan makes sense, procedures can be implemented, people are trained, and the required equipment works. We have in our organization tests, alert and notification test. That's where we contact our emergency relocation group. Some of those exercises even though they required quarterly, we have them more often than that, depending on the results that we get. As far as the training we have a lot of continuity of operations training basically after the exercises because the exercises reveal. Exercises you know are made to test a plan. So once we find out if our plan works, what part of that plan works and those deficient parts of a plan. Then we'll have training based on where those deficiencies are. Carrying out your department or agencies essential functions in a crisis or continuity event requires procedures, systems, and equipment that work, people who are trained in continuity teams that have practice. So the next time your continuity staff conducts a test, offers training or runs a continuity practice exercise, participate or volunteer to help. If you do you'll help your department or agency make the continuity connection.
