Emmitsburg, MD, was founded in 1785, is located in Frederick County, and is a relatively small community. Emmitsburg is home to the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Mount Saint Mary's University, and the National Emergency Training Center (NETC). The NETC campus, which was the former St. Joseph's College, is home to the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Academy (USFA's NFA) and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI). You will also find the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial and the National Civil Defense Monument on the NETC campus.
