The First Annual National Professional Development Symposium (NPDS) dates are set for June 11-13, 2014 at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD. The symposium will feature presentations related to fire training and resources, fire and emergency services higher education, and fire prevention and protection.

The NPDS is a collaborative effort, highlighting Training Resources and Data Exchange (TRADE), Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE), and Fire Prevention Advocacy Resources and Data Exchange (PARADE) initiatives.

Selection criteria

National Professional Development Workshop

On June 10, we will host the National Professional Development Workshop (R0703). The workshop is a business workday for the TRADE co-chairs, Professional Development Initiative/FESHE workgroups, and PARADE membership representatives.

How to apply for the NPDS and the National Professional Development Workshop

The NPDS is free to attend. To apply, download the General Admissions Application Short Form (FEMA Form 119-25-2, PDF, 1.1 Mb) and complete the application through block 18b.

Airport transportation, lodging and meals

Airport transportation and lodging

We will provide free lodging and scheduled bus transportation to and from Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport. Do not book your travel plans until confirmation of your acceptance is received from our Admissions Office. Transportation information will be included in your welcome packet.

Awards banquet

The International Association of Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education will host an off-campus banquet and awards ceremony on June 11. Cost to attend the banquet is $30.00. Banquet tickets may be purchased when you arrive at the National Fire Academy. Banquet attire is business casual.
