In development for only a few short months, beta testing of the new National Mutual Aid System (NMAS) will begin in four states. California, Florida, Tennessee and Utah are the testing sites for the new system.
NMAS relies on ArcGIS and WebEOC, two well-used software packages within the emergency services community. These programs give users of the NMAS system the ability to manage and track data in order to help fire departments with data collection.
Fire department activities rely on accurate, real-time data. Departments must back up purchase requests, leadership and management decisions, and operations with reliable data. NMAS may fill in some of those gaps by giving departments the ability to collect, store, analyze and share data.
The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) announced this endeavor in partnership with Esri and Intermedix, developers of the two programs involved in the NMAS system.
