Automatic fire sprinkler systems and automatic fire alarm systems are common in many types of construction. To help firefighters prepare for these incidents, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation launched the new training module Automatic Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Systems.
Many firefighters are unsure how to operate when an automatic fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm system is present at a scene and how to interact with these systems during a response.— National Fallen Firefighters Foundation
As automatic fire alarms and sprinklers are installed in more properties, firefighters must know in advance the best techniques to fighting fires in structures with these systems. The new module provides basic information on sprinklered buildings and how to manage alarm systems incorporated into multi-family buildings. It is self-paced and can be completed at any time or place.
Free training available through Fire Hero Learning Network focuses on safety, operations and community relations. The majority of training applies to all levels (firefighter through to leadership), all jurisdictions and all volunteer or career firefighting. Users will receive certificates of completion and a training record.
