Many agencies are implementing Next Generation 911 (NG911) networks but assessing progress with installation can be difficult. The NG911 Self-Assessment Tool helps administrators and oversight personnel evaluate a system's NG911 maturity state and understand the next steps necessary to continue deployment.
The tool was created by the SAFECOM-National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators with input from government, industry and academia stakeholders. It establishes a common terminology and identifies key milestones to help 911 call centers understand the multi-year NG911 implementation process.
The easy-to-use checklist is downloadable in Microsoft Excel format. Instructions, definitions and additional resources are available within the tool to guide you through each step. The tool compiles your answers and categorizes your 911 system into one of five maturity states for NG911 implementation.
Results are only shared with your agency. They are intended to help agency leadership:
- Document their 911 system's current functions and capabilities.
- Strengthen their understanding of NG911 elements.
- Outline the next steps to transition their system into a fully integrated NG911 network.
