A room at the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) is reserved for you when you are accepted for a course. All rooms are smoke-free. If you do not need a room, please email us.
In some situations, we will accept you for a course or event with the understanding that you need to find your own accommodations. We will tell you this before you apply or provide information in your acceptance letter.
Room assignments are random. We'll do our best to make sure you have a single room, but you may need to room with another student if the student count is high. Please don't call us to request a single room.
If you have back-to-back courses, you can stay in the same room.
Foreign students: You must pay for your travel, per diem costs and lodging. Please pay for your lodging ($40 USD per night) when you arrive. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.

Your room: 301-447-####. Ask for your room extension when you check-in. You can't accept collect calls. Place outgoing calls from your room using a calling card or by collect/third-party billing. Expenses related to room phone use are your responsibility.
Emergency messages: 301-447-1048
We will deliver emergency messages to you immediately if you are on campus. If you need to return home due to an emergency, please check out with the NETC Housing/Transportation Office in Building C before you leave.
Only you, as the assigned student, are allowed in your dorm room. Relatives or friends can't stay on campus.
Dormitory buildings on the NETC campus are A, C, D, F and L. All dorms have elevators. Campus buildings are within walking distance from the dorms; there is no shuttle service between buildings.
Please be mindful of our no-noise policy after 11 p.m. We also have a no-visit dorm room policy; students may gather in common areas within dormitory buildings.
We don't supply dorm room toiletries. Please bring them with you.

- TV and clock radio.
- Hair dryer.
- Iron and ironing board.
- Telephone with voice mail.
- Wi-Fi (login provided at registration and on NETC Channel 59).
NETC dorm rooms
Mattresses and pillowcases have encasements to assist with bedbug prevention. Bed linens are changed by housekeeping each Friday (if staying over into the following week) and after checking out.
Amenities you must pay for
- Toiletries (available from the campus convenience store).
- Coin-operated washers and dryers. Machines are available in all dorms. The convenience store sells laundry supplies and can provide you with change.
- Vending machines.
- Dry cleaning.
Special room accommodations
If you require special accommodations related to a disability, check “yes” in Block 11 of the General Admissions Application. Our admissions staff will contact you for more information on your needs. You may have to provide written documentation on a physician's letterhead describing the accommodation. We will notify your course manager if you require a classroom accommodation.
Most NETC buildings have elevators and access ramps. A limited number of dorm rooms are equipped with roll-in showers and shower handrails. The following items are also available to you:
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) kits for the hearing-impaired that include an alarm clock, door knock and telephone signaling devices, text telephone, telephone amplifier, and bed shaker.
- Job Access with Speech for Windows.
Animals are not allowed in dorm rooms, except for service animals. Please notify the NETC Admissions Office at least 2 weeks in advance if you are bringing a service animal. The service animal must always be with you. It can't be left in your dorm room unattended.
Staying off campus
You may choose to stay off campus, but it is at your expense. In addition, you are required to purchase a snack break ticket from the NETC Cafeteria.
